Free Clockwork Spider - Comes Down and Spins a Web When You Go Quiet | VRChat

상품 설명

Stay quiet, and a little brass spider comes down on its thread and starts spinning a web behind you. Start talking, and the gear winch on your head turns and pulls the spider back up, and the web disappears.

A small clockwork joke: "go quiet and you get a web." Attach it to a hat brim, the side of your head or your shoulder.

This item is free, so you can try out Karakuri Komono's items. If you like it, following the shop helps a lot.

Features

  • Comes down after 6 seconds of silence: the 8 legs patter on the way down, then a web spreads behind it little by little (hub, spokes and spiral from the inside out, frame, anchor threads; about 20 seconds)
  • Pulled back up when you talk: the drum, the two gears, the crank and the pulley turn with the length of the thread. Talk halfway down and it just turns back, without jumping
  • The web fades out in 0.6 seconds the moment you talk, and is spun again from the start the next time you go quiet
  • "Keep the Web" keeps the spider down and the web up even while you talk
  • 6 spots in the menu: hat brim, side of head and shoulder, each left or right. A hair clip with comb teeth under the winch follows the slope of the head or shoulder, while the winch stays level and the thread hangs straight down
  • Size dial from 0.6x to 2.2x (1.6x to 1.8x for chibi avatars with big heads)
  • Details: a round brass body with big amber eyes, a round window on the back (navy enamel and a tiny gear), a tiny windup key on the tail, copper bands and rivets, blued steel legs with brass joints. The winch has a 20-tooth gear with windows, an 8-tooth pinion, a crank with an ebony knob, a truss arm and a grooved pulley
  • The web keeps its lines at least about 1 pixel wide and fades them instead, so it does not flicker far away. Dew drops sparkle
  • Modular Avatar ready. No particles, PhysBones or sounds. Custom shader included (no lilToon needed). All designs are original

How it works

  • Your own device checks "voice under 0.05 for 6 seconds" and sets one synced bit, so everyone sees the same thing.
  • The spider's height, the thread length, the drum rotation and the leg steps all come from one smoothed value. When it stops, the legs stop too.
  • The web, the legs and the gears are moved by the shader.

What to know before getting it

  • It reacts only to the wearer's own voice, not to other people's voices or world music.
  • The web spreads on a plane behind the spider (on the outer side, seen from the avatar). On some spots it passes close to the hair or the shoulder. Move the anchor to fit (the manual explains how).
  • The default anchor positions are for an avatar about 1.5 m tall.
  • We checked the movement with the Unity test and with a video played with the same values. We have not checked it in VR headsets.

Menu (English menu prefab)

  • Clockwork Spider > Show: spider on/off
  • Clockwork Spider > Size: a dial from 0.6x to 2.2x (1x at first)
  • Clockwork Spider > Attach To: Hat Brim (Left / Right), Side of Head (Left / Right), Shoulder (Left / Right)
  • Clockwork Spider > Keep the Web: when ON, the spider stays down and the web stays up even while you talk

What's included

  • 1 prefab (winch, hair clip, spider, thread, web) and an English-menu prefab (_EN) next to it. Use one or the other on an avatar, not both
  • FBX, textures (color atlas), materials, 1 custom shader, animations
  • Instruction manual and Terms of Use in English and Japanese

Specs

  • Added to your avatar (counted in Unity): 7,480 triangles, 5 meshes, 5 material slots (all with 1 custom shader)
  • Synced parameters: 19 bits (Show, Attach To, Size, quiet, Keep the Web). The voice-driven parts use no extra sync
  • No Particle Systems, PhysBones, AudioSources, Contacts or lights
  • No extra skinned mesh

Requirements

  • Unity 2022.3.22f1 (an avatar project made with VRChat Creator Companion)
  • VRChat SDK (Avatars) 3.10 or later
  • Modular Avatar 1.18 or later
  • lilToon is not needed (custom shader included)

Please note

  • PC only. Not supported on Quest / Android.
  • Voice is calculated on each viewer's device, so the moment it comes down may differ slightly between viewers.
  • Coming down, spinning the web and pulling up work inside VRChat. In the Unity editor the spider stays up and the web is hidden.
  • If a viewer's Safety settings hide shaders, the spider stays up and the web may be shown with a standard look.

Terms of use

  • You may upload it to VRChat and similar services on your own avatars, edit it, and use it in streams, videos and photos (commercial or not).
  • You may not redistribute, resell or share the data (edited or not), or use it to train AI.
  • Full text: TermsOfUse_EN.txt in the download.
